WORLD RECORD!

Welcome to BankaWord. The idea is simple: bank as many words as you can with extra points earned for longer words.

1. Spin the reels to reveal three random letters, choose as many as you like - in any order - and spin again to assemble the longest word you can. A nine (or more) letter word doubles all subsequent points for the rest of the game so aim for that first.
2. When you are happy with your word hit BANK and spin again for more words. You cannot bank a word shorter than 5 letters.
3. If you need a vowel you can force the reels to reveal three random vowels. In this game Y also counts as a vowel. You have up to ten vowel spins.
4. There is an undo button which will delete one letter at a time.
5. Acceptable words are from The UK Scrabble Dictionary with plurals and tense endings such as -ed and -ing also allowed.
6. Longer words score MUCH higher - but dont run out of time or spins!:
   • 5 Letters - 5 Points
   • 6 Letters - 6 Points
   • 7 Letters - 10 Points
   • 8 Letters - 20 points
   • 9 Letters - 50 Points
   • 10 letters or more score 50 points PLUS 10 points for each additional letter (10 = 60, 11 = 70, etc.)
   • Words of 9 or more letters also get a bonus of 20 extra seconds or 10 extra spins in UNCLOCKED mode.
7. Your Total Score is calculated by multiplying your total points by the number of words banked

There are two game versions:

3 MIN SPINS - Play against the clock with a three minute timer.

UNCLOCKED - Play at your own pace with 100 spins.

There is also a light and dark version. A vintage glass tube orange letter display (dark) and a split flap airport departure board (light). They are purely for appearance and don't affect the gameplay.

Each day I'll post the highest score from yesterday as a target.

To maximise your score, ideally you need one or two long words of 9 or more letters and a bunch of short 5 letter words to multiply your score. You probably won’t have time for more than that in the three-minute version

Think about adding prefixes and suffixes like un, ly and ness, so for example changing rebel (5 points) to rebelliousness will give you a massive 100 points. Even a simple plural S can add up to 30 points.

Compound words like backstage, grandstand and safekeeping really rack up the points.

The letters are random (though weighted to favour more common letters using the Scrabble letter distribution) so with three reels, the letter you need should appear roughly every 8 or 9 spins.

The undo button can help you get a completely different word or ending and don’t forget, you have ten chances to force a vowel if you need one.
